Valve's next Team Fortress 2 update will add new maps, three new weapons for both Soldier and Demo classes, and a few other "surprises" which have yet to be revealed. As an added bonus surprise for the duel (excuse the pun) update, a seventh top secret weapon is has been announced but with an interesting twist...

It's secret and it's up for grabs! Either the Soldier or Demo class (but not both!) will receive the yet-to-be-revealed, potentially-uber superunlockable as Valve have decided to let the players choose who gets it... with their bodycounts!

Robin Walker explains on the TF2 Official Blog, "The more Demomen you kill as the Soldier class will help ensure the Soldier gets the weapon at the end of the week. The more Soldiers you kill as the Demo will help the Demo class get the exclusive seventh weapon."

If you want your class to win the secret, elusive, mysterious seventh weapon, you had better start piling on the explosives before the timer runs out next week!

Along with fixing a number of issues that we've already been aware of, the newest update released on December 7th adds several new audio files as well which don't quite seem to match up with any gametype we now know of in the game's current state. The regular fixes solve the problems we've seen where particles like fire turn into waffles on map changes as well as a case where the Heavy's hands would sometimes disappear while taunting. The new voice files have the announcer saying how disgusted she is with the "friendships" being made in the game and instructs players to "kill their friends." Other things mentioned include "mercenaries" and "paychecks," so who knows what Valve has up their sleeve...

Pretty strange stuff if you ask me...

The clan-favorite VoIP client was recently updated and is (rather unfortunately) incompatible with the old version. As such, you may notice some difficulty in getting your old client to connect to the server.. To update your client, all you have to do is click this link here and follow the steps to install. It should keep all your old settings, so updating should be relatively painless. The only thing the update doesn't remember is your sound-quality settings, which can easily be changed by going to Configure>Settings>Audio Input and moving the "Quality" slider all the way to the right. The Official HoB Mumble Skin will be updated soon, and a link will be posted here soon when it's completely fixed and compatible with the new version.
